It was a weird tournament this week. In less
than 5 hands we had some of the toughest poker
players already busted out and watching from
the rail.
The very first hand at my table, Bob makes
a healthy raise from middle position only
to be re-raised all in by the button. Bob
thinks for a while and decides to gamble and
calls!
Bob turns over (virtually speaking) pocket
9's and see's that he is in a coin flip against
Big Slick. Big slick hits an Ace on the flop
and wins the coin flip. Bob's night is over
before it even began.
Less than two hands later I hear that both
the Joelarbear and Fuller are also now sitting
on the virtual rail, at the other table when
KK went up against JJ and 44.
Joelearbear, with Kings, raises pre-flop and
is called by 44, Fuller is sitting on a pair
of hooks and re-raises all in.
Of course Joe calls and now the pot is so
huge that the 44 decides to risk it and calls.
His gamble paid off and hit a set on the flop,
busting both Joe and Fuller and three of the
toughest players are already out.

As
most of you guys know I'm a pretty big fan
of online poker. I've been playing online
for over 2 years and have consistently won
at lower stakes online poker. I'm going to
start giving a report of my weekly win or
loss rate.

My second favorite site:

the Review
I played a little 1/2 shorthand at Empire
for an overall loss, although I had a few
modest winning sessions. Many times I will
have built my $50 buyin to over $65 in a 1/2
limit ring game only to lose it down to $53
or $54 bucks before getting up with my modest
profit.
I took some very bad beats with players hitting
longshot draws against me numerous times but
I know that I'll go through swings like that.
I played some NL Ring at at Bodog and also
lost a little bit. No Limit is a different
animal than limit in my opinion. You have
to get paid when you make a big hand and avoid
paying off other players with 2nd best hands.
I can't complain though, because the time
before I made a huge chunk of profit 1 hand
where I flopped a set, turned a boat and then
checked the river because I thought my opponent
was on a Flush Draw and missed.
Here is how it went down. I hold TT and make
a 3-4x raise pre-flop with 2 callers. I flop
my set with two clubs on the board and I make
a slightly less than half pot sized bet to
see what i'm up against. I get 1 caller.
The turn pairs the board and I hit a boat.
I make another moderate bet and am quickly
called. I'm assuming this guy is on a flush
draw but I'm not sure. The river is a blank
and I decide to check it.
Now, I check here for a couple of reasons.
If he was on a flush draw, he missed and he
isn't going to call any real bet from me.
Since I put him on the flush draw I thought
I would give him the opportunity to bluff
at the pot.
He might think I'm betting my flush draw and
I've missed, or he might think that my check
on the river seems weak and might make a bet
at the pot.
So I check and he bets out about $25, which
is half of his remaining stack. I push all
in and get called. GG, thank you for the money!
I busted out fairly early in the Sunday
night league tournament when Lee made
a great call when I re-raised him all in with
2nd pair on the river. He called with 2nd
pair himself and he had me outkicked. I had
the King, he had the Ace. Lee took home the
$15 bounty and got to cheer his lady on to
win 1st place.
