The
World Series of Poker is Awesome. Four
Atlanta Poker Club players ventured
west to Las Vegas last week to try their
hand in the second largest poker tournament,
ever.
They
say what
happens in Vegas stays in Vegas
but that's not the case with the APC's
first annual trip out to play in the
World Series of Poker. We're sharing
all the juicy details.
Congratulations
to Nicky Nichols for
making the money finishing a respectable
182nd out of 2305 in event
#2 at the WSOP. It was a great run
Nicky, and laying down those queens
at a key point in the tourney was a
huge laydown! Nicely played.
Ben Nash and Spry both got to play with
pro's at their table. Ben played with
the lovely Evelyn Ng, who encouraged
him to make moves and Spry had the fortune
to have Phil
Hellmuth sitting on his immediate
left, if you want to call that fortune.

Online Poker
As
most of you guys know I'm a pretty big fan
of online poker. I've been playing online
for over 2 years and have consistently won
at lower stakes online poker. I'm going to
start giving a report of my weekly win or
loss rate. We'll see how I do between now
and the Vegas Trip as I plan on taking a large
portion of my bankroll with me to play at
the live tables.
My Favorite Site:
Bodog
Poker Read
the Review
My second favorite site:
FullTilt Read
the Review
I spent the week out in Vegas so I didn't
play hardly any online poker at all really.
I did play in the 10k
Guaranteed tourney at Bodog because it
had around a 20% overlay.
I honestly don't even remember how I busted
out, but it was early and an unimpressive
showing. It kind of fades when Phil Hellmuth
sits down on your left in the WSOP ;)
One thing playing in the $1500 event at the
WSOP has done has increased my drive to improve
my game. I'm going to work on my technical
game in Multi-Table tournaments online and
work on my live game at our Local APC tournaments.
I might even try a couple of the Bracelet
Races tourney at FullTilt.
These are $24+2 buyins with around 100-150
people and the with the winner gets a $2000
package to go play in one of the smaller events
at the WSOP, just like the one we played in.
In the NL events they are drawing enough players
to give the top 2 the $2000 package.
I only played in 2 so I guess I shouldn't
be that suprised, heh. By the way, FullTilt's
new design is very very slick.
Noble Poker (read
the review) does have a very cool promotion
going right now. If you are a Sit-N-Go
fan they've got a table called 'Maui'
that has a sit-n-go bonus attached to it.
It's only a $5.00 +.50 tourney
and if you are good enough to win
5 times in a row, they throw in a
bonus
of $15,000! Check their Terms
and Conditions as they will disqualify you
if they think you're colluding or see soft
play.
Check out Bodog's
tournament schedule and
just look for the tournaments that have a
Guaranteed Prize Pool...
these nearly always have overlay! they've
got eight guaranteed tourneys.
I'm Starting Over!
Current
Roll...
Last weeks results:
-0 Total hours played
= +/- 2 Current
Bankroll = $200 Alltime
high = 1987.00 Alltime
low = 45 - after initial
buyin of 50 - 2 years ago and
a withdrawal of $1500+ to go to
WSOP in June 2005 Bankroll
goal by the end of June
= $300. (starting over) |
