Online Poker
As
most of you guys know I'm a pretty big fan
of online poker. I've been playing online
for over 2 years and have consistently won
at lower stakes online poker. I'm going to
start giving a report of my weekly win or
loss rate. We'll see how I do between now
and the Vegas Trip as I plan on taking a large
portion of my bankroll with me to play at
the live tables.
2 weeks ago, I had
a very good run of online poker - this past
week has been totally
opposite. I played four sit-n-goes
over at my favorite site, Bodog
Poker and didn't cash in a single
one of them, even worse I finished 4th, 4th,
5th, and 7th... Those 4th place finishes hurts.
Last week I talked about playing the 6 handed
NL Ring games at FullTilt
Poker. At least i warned that
the flucuations at NL ring games can be huge,
and that they indeed were...
I'd buy in for $50 bucks at FullTilt
(still fun to play at, just more fun when
I win, haha) I sit down at the 6 handed table.
Blinds are at .50/1 and normally if you play
semi-decent poker you can walk away a winner,
but it just wasn't meant to be.
Early on I get dealt AA and
raise it to $3 to go pre-flop with 1 caller.
Flop comes 779 with two to the flush, I need
to bet a large enough amount to chase out
any flush draws and straight draws, right?
I bet 3/4ths the pot and get
raised - here is where I need
to go back to my mantra - patience
and discipline.
Now in most cases you simply can't lay down
Aces here as a good player is likely to re-raise
you with a smaller overpair or even a pair
of 9's... So i decide to re-raise the amount
of the pot only to get Re-Raised all in by
my competition. I call and lose to trip 7's.
- Ok, so 1 Buy-In gone down the drain, but
a lesson learned. Be more cautious when the
board pairs and if someone pushes they've
got trips most likely. (I saw this happen
2 other times to other players, once with
Queens and Once with Kings - you've gotta
be able to lay down strong starting hands
when you see fierce resistance!)
I take a break and decide to try again about
an hour later (the crack got me!), First hand
I sit down (i had been watching a round before
i sat) and i get dealt AK in the BB.
I raise pre-flop to $4 trying to get heads
up. The loose and aggressive player calls
me and the flop comes Ad8dTc. Long story short
I lose to a set of 8's on my first
hand... didn't lose my whole stack,
but I did call the loose/aggressive players
all in of around $30 bucks. Ouch.
I build my stack back up only to play crappy
poker and call off a majority of my stack
to someone who I Knew was just bluffing
at the pot (he made pot sized bets after a
small pre-flop raise which I called from the
BB and hit Top Pair with Ace Kicker....) He
showed me pocket QQ to take down a huge pot.
Now I'm on FULLTILT and I
reload another $50 and promplty LOSE it when
I make stupid plays. Another $50 pissed away!
ARRRRRGH ok I must stop playing.
At least I got to watch Phil
Ivey take a $5000 Pot from Layne Flack!
Here is the ScreenShots from FullTilt (scroll
to the bottom).
I decided to switch it up and play some SNG's
at FullTilt - NO LUCK THEIR EITHER. 2 buyins
down the crapper (just like Croniers
new Avatar at the forum).
Bad week online, going to concentrate on some
Multi-Table Tourneys and maybe some SNG's
as I know I'm due.
I'm also going to become a bonus whore
and take advantage of a huge sign
up bonus from Noble Poker. They have
offered our players a 100% Deposit Bonus up
to $500 bucks and it is relatively easy to
release your bonus. This is the same site
that is hosting our APC freeroll on May 1st,
so it makes sense to start playing there anyway.
For my Multi-Table tourneys, i'm going to
stick to the Overlay Tourneys at Bodog. Look
at todays
tournament schedule and
they've got eight guaranteed tourneys.
Most of these will have overlay. If you like
multi-table tournaments then I think Bodog
is offering the best bang for your buck. You
can get in for as little as .50c. The $10,000
guaranteed has a buyin at only $25+2. Not
too shabby! Bodog has a
World Series of Poker Qualifying
tournament every day for only $33 bucks. For
every 9 players, 1 advances into a Semi-Qualifier
tournament that will be sending 1 player out
of 50 to the WSOP (including buying/hotel).
Click
here to sign up at Bodog.
FullTilt is also offering a bonus of 10
MILLION dollars (check
out the article here)if you qualify through
their site and then go on to win this years
WSOP main event. Hey, not bad and they do
have great online WSOP qualifying events.
Current
Roll...
Last weeks results:
-338 Total hours played
= +/- 9 Current
Bankroll = 1440.00
Alltime high
= 1778.00 Alltime
low = 45 - after initial
buyin of 50 - 2 years ago
Bankroll goal by
the end of April = $1500.
