LET'S TALK ONLINE POKER

Online Poker
As
most of you guys know I'm a pretty big fan
of online poker. I've been playing online
for over 2 years and have consistently won
at lower stakes online poker. I'm going to
start giving a report of my weekly win or
loss rate. We'll see how I do between now
and the Vegas Trip as I plan on taking a large
portion of my bankroll with me to play at
the live tables.
I transferred $400
of my bankroll over to Bodog
Poker.
Last week I talked about the Juicy NL games
at Bodog that I had found... Well I've enjoyed
playing so much at Bodog that I moved $400
of my roll over there and started playing
some limit poker.
Now, the one thing I've found about bodog
is that at the lower limits of LIMIT holdem,
there isn't a lot of traffic. Plenty of NL
action all day but I was used to the 50 tables
of every limit that Party and Empire have
running non-stop.
I actually stumbled into what I think is a
fairly profitable situation. Starting a brand
new limit table at Bodog: I was the first
player to sit down at the 9 player 3/6 table...
I sat down, put my $$ on the table and waited.
About 30 seconds in I had my first opponent.
I'm fairly comfortable playing short handed
(i turn super aggressive unless I'm pushed
back against and I
played probably 5 hands heads up and then
the fish started to
swarm...
Normally, there isn't a limit table running
lower than $5/10 and there is always plenty
of higher limit action at Bodog. There is
also at least one .50c/1 and $1/2 limit...
There are a lot of new players who see a limit
like 3/6 and think, 'hey, that's not much,
I'll sit down with $100 and have some fun.
Well... if you play poorly at 3/6 you can
lose your stack quickly (right apwine?), but
that also means you can win a lot quickly.
Long story shorter, I sat down at a brand
new table just to see if I could get some
action.
A lot of bad players joined
the table because it was unique. This is good
for me. Lots of crappy players sat down because
there normally isn't a table at these limits
running and they saw that the limits were
only 3/6 and sat down with $100 and would
get involved in every hand!
Calling raises with trash and then calling
bets with bottom pair, not folding to re-raises
and only betting if they've got top pair or
better. They would pay you off when you hit
a hand and they'll let you draw cheaply to
backdoor winners.
This is perfect for the tight
and aggressive player. I did well.
Now I wouldn't be giving an honest answer
if I didn't tell the entire story. After about
an hour of playing 3/6 the table started to
break up and It got back down to heads up,
me against another guy who was a fairly tight
and passive player. Perfect for heads up situation
if you're aggressive.
I figure I'll play and see if I can make some
quick profit while the table rebuilds... be
aggressive unless he pushes back and then
only play my strong hands.
Long story short, we had some huge
hands in a very short
time period. I lost with the nut flush to
a boat (made on the river with me capping
the betting on the flop and turn) and a nut
straight to another crazy j4o boat. I also
won a few huge hands with a set against two
pair and other big hands, especially in heads
up...
Heads up these are huge hands. I lost a chunk
of my profit on those two hands but still
very positive at bodog. Up about $49 overall
there since I've started. I'm curious to see
if the big hands continue to happen, as it
was a little weird.
What I did like was that on average the players
were as bad as the bad players you'll find
on PartyPoker
and EmpirePoker
and that there were more fish at any given
table. The good players were easy to spot
and avoid while everyone feeds on the guppies.
Bodog also
has a great WSOP satellite program.
I'm getting in at the $33
level. If you're looking for a new place
to play online poker then give bodog a try.
Click
here to download the Free bodog poker
software.
I also played two $20 buyin Sit-N-Goes...
taking 1st and $100 payout in one and busting
out early in the other for a total profit
of $56. (1st paid $100 with a $22 buyin).
So it was a decent week for me playing online,
although I got ate up on one session at 2/4
limit to eat most of my profit that I had
previously made at 3/6.
Current
Roll...
Last weeks results:
+101 Total hours played
= +/- 5 Current
Bankroll = 1000.00
Alltime high
= 1108.00 Alltime
low = 45 - after initial
buyin of 50 - 2 years ago
Bankroll goal by
the end of March = $1200.
