Atlanta Poker Club Starting on the week of May 22nd, and running through the week of July 24th, the Atlanta Poker Club announces it's new 10 week league structure.

The Atlanta Poker Club will play in an
intense 10 weeks of poker

Two weeks after the season is over, we will have an invitational only championship tournament where we give away our end of season grand prizes! At the end of the 10 week season, the top 30 in season points and the top 2 in points at any given venue are invited to a combined championship where will will give away the season ending grand prize.

Dynamic Scoring System

Starting in Season 6 we are implementing a new scoring system that is dynamic. The total points you can win at any particular tournament is now influenced by how many players play in the tournament and where you finish in the tournament.

The forumla for determining the total points is
TP = N^(1/2)*200

TP = Total Points awarded for the event.
N = Number of players

Finish Rank
1st - 30%
2nd - 20%
3rd - 10%
4th - 8%
5th - 6.5%
6th - 5%
7th - 4%
8th - 3%
9th - 2%
10th - 1.5%
11th - 20th 1%
Total Points per event
20 person tourney = 895 points
30 person tourney = 1096 points
40 person tourney = 1265 points
50 person tourney = 1415 points
60 person tourney = 1550 points
70 person tourney = 1674 points
80 person tourney = 1789 points
90 person tourney = 1899 points
100 person tourney = 2000 points

If you finish 1st in a 50 person tournament you win 30% of 1415 points, or 425 points (decimals are rounded up). If you win 1st in a 100 person tournament you win 30% of 2000 points, or 600 points. You can take a look at the current leaderboards here.

In addition to the end of season prizes, each venue will have prizes for the individual points leaders at the end of the 10 weeks points race! So get those points because they are going to be very important this time... this is a short season, so get those points now!

Season starts on May 22nd, final week July 24th.

The week of May 22nd starts the new season - it runs through the week of July 24th. The combined championship tournament will be held 2 weeks later on a neutral as possible date and venue.

We hope everyone enjoys this switch to a shorter and more competitive style season and combined championship. The Atlanta Poker Club will still hold at least two additional major tournaments per year where we award major prizes and on the year ending tournament, an Atlanta Poker Club Championship Bracelet.

The new and easier to follow and more competitive league structure, combined with the new dynamic points system will lead to a more laser accurate testing of skill, higher levels of competition, shorter league seasons and an overall more enjoyable experience.

Host venues will no longer hold individual invitational only championship events, although prizes will still be awarded to end of season points winners at each venue that participates.

To discuss any of these changes, or to voice your opinion - please feel free to join us in the forum.

Thanks, and we'll see you at the tables!
