Default Stop Tapping the Tank

I'm pretty sure I've addressed this before, but it's a behavior that I see more than I'd like to so I'm going to reiterate my point.

Stop antagonizing the weaker players!!!

There are no good reasons to be prick and many good reasons NOT to.

Why you should:
It satisfies your immediate selfish desire to vent your frustration.
This is not a good reason. If you can't control your emotions enough to take a bad beat or someone's bad play gracefully, then perhaps you don't have the decorum to be going out by yourself.

Why you shouldn't:
It causes them to play better. If you point out to them the fact that they are playing badly, then they might try to improve their game and therefore makes it much more difficult for me to get their chips.

It causes them to play tighter. If you berate someone, humiliating them publicly, they are likely going to draw into their own little shell and stop splashing around, making it more difficult for me to get their chips.

It makes you (and by extension, the
APC) look like an asshole.
There is no reason for any adult to allow the actions of someone else to cause them to change their behavior. Obviously there are exceptions to this but you know what I mean.

It damages the APC
When the new players don't want to come back or tell their friends to come out, it makes it much more difficult for us to keep the venues we have and/or expand into new venues for you to play...and for me to get their chips

It alerts other less attentive players to the fact that there is a weak player at the table.
If you're the only one who's noticed the weak player, you're the most likely person to benefit from this knowledge. Keep it to yourself and nobody will be aware of what an advanced level of player you are. If you REALLY are a good player, do you want to hip the rest of the table to this fact?

If you feel that you are truly a superior player to anyone at the table, shut up. Why? Because you DO NOT want them to improve their game. If you are truly a better player than them, sit quietly and take their chips. Don't alert anyone to the fact that you know WTF you're doing or even more importantly what they're doing. It makes you look like the weaker player by showing that you can be tilted. It's bad etiquette and bad manners. Don't do it.

No need. Go to just about any free poker event and listen up. You'll hear someone being unnecessarily gruff.
Unless you come to one of mine because this sheriff plans to clean up the riff raff moving forward.

Great post, Weenie. What fascinates me the most is that this behavior occurs a lot more often in bar poker than in casinos.

that is really true. ive noticed it a lot lately too.
good post weenie!
i think that if they are willing to risk their chips with 7 2 calling your 5x raise and suck out, keep letting them play like that because chances are they will get caught later on and it'll benefit you

I'm guilt of this online and every time I drop to the level of going off on someone in chat I feel so stupid for all the reasons above.

I've never done this live and I hope I never do. The worst I've done live is say omg and stormed away from the table but there is no excuse even for that.

We never want to educate inferior players at the table. Great thread!!!

EvilWeenie my friend, that is a Great Post you made there.

As I was trying to say this when that stuff was happening to me on this forum, and your right on the money as it only takes 1 person to say something bad about the Atlanta Poker Club or its members to do damage to this wonder group and organization.

And I sure you would agree with me that we have to do it better by keeping our ducks in a row, because the way some Counties and State are just looking for us to do something wrong like for example to catch us gambling, look what's been in the news the past month or two, about the raids on the video gambling machines.

We all have to be on our toes to do everything right from the start and train people (new members and refresh members) on the rules so on.

I second that motion to appoint EvilWeenie the new Sheriff in Town LOLOL

Keep up the Great work there my friend.

I encourage all "Counties and State" to come join us for some fun and legal poker and to look around to their hearts' content because everything we do at the Atlanta Poker Club is above board and legal but hey, thanks for implying that there are some shenanigans going on and for planting a seed of doubt.

EvilWeenie my friend, I know we all are doing everything right and above board as always and that will never change.

I really did not inply nothing that would have put doubt on us, but just this we have to keep on or on our toes and make sure that we do not fall into something because we already have enemies that would claim something is a foot when we all know there nothing is like that to going on at all.

As I also do encourage everyone any where in the State of Georgia to come out a enjoy themselves and meet and make new friends and also to play legal poker and just have plain fun, and support the venues that allow us to give us a place to play at.

As we the members do reflect on what we do, by our words in public playing poker at the venues and even on here on what we say that effects Atlanta Poker Club.

Your still the New Sheiff in town there my friend.

i'm no great player and i've been on the receiving end the odd time but just like "donk" nothing major but i've seen others verbally chase away really bad players just cause there aces got cracked by trips or something. for me it's poker and your gonna get busted or suckout or whatever so no need to chase the fish away (i'm a fish by the way i guess). he'll probably return your money if he continues to stay at the table. chase him/her away and you won't get your money back

Default You're Kiddin' Right?

Weenie:
Do you mean that every time I berate some player with "ATM" printed across his forehead in bold letters I'm actually screwing myself? Who knew?

Sadly, the same players that exhibit this behavior are also prone to going on tilt. But wait, in a twisted way, I like that. Am I allowed to needle the offending party so I can take his chips?

Carry on Sheriff!
