Default APC Rules Not Being Followed

In recent events, I have been noticing that the APC Rules haven't been followed..i.e. people being allowed to bet when they are not at the table.

This violates rule #27..if a player isn't at the table in time to take his turn, then the dealer must muck his cards.

In this case, the dealer isn't mucking the cards and allowing players to bet while they are not at the table.

If a player has to leave the table because they need to use the restroom, that is unfortunate and their cards must be folded.

This creates an unfair advantage to people who are already at the table and has created some unnecessary yelling and screaming as well as potential fights.

I enjoy playing in the APC and yes I play to win, but no matter where I finish, I want it to be because I was beat fairly.

Any comments or suggestions are welcome to this thread.

I think some common sense should be applied, such as you see the player a few feet away but walking up to the table then go ahead and let them play. On the other hand, I have seen way too often players walk away and start talking with a friend and the dealer has to call out several times to get that player's attention in order to get them back to the table. This slows the game and uncalled for. In this type of situation, that player's cards should be immediately mucked by the dealer without warning the player in advance. The dealers should be instructed to never verbally call out for a player who is not at the table. This just happened to me last week where the dealer delayed the game calling out for the player and eventually the player came back, played the hand, and ended up winning the hand where I raised and would have won had his hand been mucked. That particular player was over chatting it up with one of his friends a few feet away, and in fact was continually walking away from the table every couple of hands. I also saw this exact behavior at my table at the GC where two players continued to make this a practice. The dealer should not call out and should just much their cards immediately. I have seen this done a number of times with people who answer a cell phone at the table and frankly this is less annoying to me that the above behavior as long as the cell phone user is not delaying the game due to their conversation.

I am not sure I understand... How can a player who is not at the table bet? He is not there to pick his chips up and place them out. Is the the dealer putting his hands into a players (who is not there) stack and calling a bet?

If so, that is all sorts of wrong. I would love to know what venue does this.

Now if its a situation like the player is coming back to the table and knows he won't make it in time to check his cards when it is his turn to act - he might yell "I call!" in the hopes to see the flop blind. I have seen some dealers let a player to do this.

That is all sorts of wrong too!

Just the other night I was dealing and player was on his cell phone. When it was his turn to act he called his hand dark (he hadn't looked at his cards), and proceeded to argue that he could do this as long as he hadn't looked at his hand.

All sorts of wrong again... but it took two tournament directors to convince him cause he certainly wasn't listening to little 'ol me.

I think all players, dealers and tournament directors should be held accountable for the integrity of the game. If you as a player see a dealer make a mistake, speak up! If you as a player or dealer see a tournament director make a mistake, speak up. Often times its an honest mistake - but the only way to get the kinks out is to make them known.

In the situation I'm talking about, the player said I call no matter what the bet and left the table and did not return until after the hand was over.
This was done preflop and his initial bet was placed by the player next to him..everyone else in the hand did not place anymore bets because he was the chip leader and covered everyone else in chips, so everyone at the table who was still in the hand just checked all around.
Fearing they would lose their chips to a player who wasn't even at the table..this happened last night at Downriggers

Also one other thing I wanted to mention, people being allowed to hold onto their hands when they call fold. This is confusing to other players who are still in the hand, thinking this person is still in the game. All folded cards should be in the dealers possession, never in the players.

i totally agree with that comment.A player should give their cards to the dealer when they have folded, because it does confuse the other players that are still in the hand. Also another thing that annoys me is a player hiding thier cards with thier hand, because the dealer doesnt see them and by passes them, then there is arguing because the player didnt get to bet what they wanted to bet.

Forum Rules not being followed either, I guess that is why the Admin moved this thread to the right area.

I suggest you talk to your TD rather than make silly generalizations.

That is a good point though... Did you make your TD aware of this player? If the dealer wasn't mucking the hand like he should have, then the TD is your second line of defense.

No, I will admit I didn't say anything to the TD but I did tell the dealer his cards should be mucked.

Besides talking on the cell phone, I LIKE TO TEXT.... I like to hold up the game with my texting.... My texting is very important. The importance of texting is to mainly annoy you and amuse myself. In addition that that, I like to argue about nothing and spill my beer accidental like.....on the table.

So, A player put chips in the pot and then walked away not to return until the hand was over. Where are these players when I play? Please play with me if you are not going to bet for free chips. His action of "I call no matter what the bet" is only good for the preflop action in this hand. After that, if he is not there then his action is FOLD to any betting. By leaving the table he has given up the hand to any further action. Next time bet and there won't be a problem.

This gets on my nerves (not you personally), but I don't get why people do not utilize the TD - *This is what a TD is there for*! This is the TD's job! The TD is not just the guy who hands you your seating card and tells the dealers when to shuffel up and deal and when they are on break. He is there to make sure the game is being played correctly - he is there to make rulings when there is a dispute.

If the TD is failing to do his job, thats one thing - but if players are sitting by letting this crap happen while the TD is oblivious - thats another.
