Default Short handed V full Ring

Hi all,

This is my first post to the site.

So far, I love the site. Great work guys.

My question is relating to NL cash games.

I've built my tiny bankroll from $50 to $350ish playing $2.25/$5.50 SnGs.
Lately, I've been seeing my edge diminish as people adopt the Moshman strategy. Which isn't a bad thing but I've now gotten kind of bored of the formulaic shove/fold game plan and want to get back into cash games again.

Am I being too ambitious wanting to jump into a $.25/$.50 game with my bankroll?

and secondly, where do you think the better profits/easier games to profit from are:

short handed 6 max or full ring??

Thanks in advance. Great to be posting!

According to Mike Caro's (recommended bankroll requirements) , if your wanting to play no-limit, then the $.50 /$1.00 ,is the highest stakes you should play. But if your playin limit holdem then your bankroll is enuff for the $2/$4 . So theres nothing wrong with jumpin in the $.25/.50 games!

Thats base on his chart of with a bankroll from $300 to $528

there is no way I would recommend sitting in with a $50 buyin with a $350 bankroll..

Start .05/.10 where you can buy in for $10 or $20...

You need to be able to buyin a few times per session whenever possible... $50 buyins is way to big for your roll if are concerned with going bust.

I almost exclusively play 6 man $$ games online now... it fits my style better because I like to play lots of hands aggressively... but if you are more patient I'm sure the full tables have, on average... larger amounts of fish per table.

He also states that a small bankroll is easier to replace, and more risk can be taken with it! "The more the risk, the more likely you are to achieve sudden sucess, and the more likely you are to go broke in the attempt" Protect a large bankroll more then you would a small one that can be replace!
I think that the .05 and .10 is to low, just based on the quality of the play that you will encounter there!

yeah, i agree with that Silverrider... that's why i said 'if you are concerned about going bust.'

Quality of play at .05/.1 is hardly different than .5/1.0 imo.

I certainly don't have a problem going bust and reloading if I have to.

It's more pride than anything. I started with a $50 deposit and slowly ground it up to $380 (playing .10/.25 & .25/.50).

I then took the kind of beating inevitably unavoidable with such a small bankroll and dropped back to around $80.
I was going to reload when I decided I wanted to stick it out and grind back up.
So I started with $2.25 SnGs and a few small $2.25 180 man SNGs and then moved up to $5.50sngs and rebuilt back to $380 (I've since been a strong downward swing that I just can not reverse) and now stopped at $350ish where I've taken a small break.

I've worked so hard to rebuild and grind over the past 6 months at the tiny level instead of taking the easy way of reloading but just don't know where to go now.
I am burnt out of sit and goes for the time being and need something to keep building my bankroll.
I appreciate the feedback so far.

Any thoughts??

bankroll=what you set aside to play with. obv its easy to afford another $50 whenever you need, but now you are unlimiting restrictions on yourself. Why go into it thinking "easy to replace..." Whatever you play (online) I recomend 20x buy-in for a BR. If you dont set guidelines from the begining, you never will..trust me.

Work that BR, and stick to the rules you set for your self. Of course you can always re-deposit, but if you ignore that opyion you will get a lot further.

Start w/a specific BR. Stick to your guidelines. Move up. Stick to your guidelines. Rinse, repeat.
