Angry Absolute Poker "superuser" cheating allegations.

I'll preface this by saying that I think online poker is not rigged, in general, but man oh man... I am not judging this for you, just providing links to relevant information.

About a month or so ago a handful of well known internet pro's on online poker forum 2+2 (biggest online) were doing some pokertracker stat analysis and noticed a few players with some unreal stats... They blew up that it had to be cheating based on the stats. Threads broke out and convinced a large percentage of the online poker community that indeed there was something amiss...

After a while, the noise died down for a month or so, but a few days ago Absolute Poker Support was working with one of the players who was certain he had been a victim of cheating (at the high stakes cash games). They were sending over hand history from events of the players in question to try and alleviate the allegations.

Well, It seems that the absolute poker rep messed up and sent out the hand history that included everyones hole cards at the table... everyone.

Well, I just have to put it out there so you guys are aware.

Hand History & Explanation from Jennifear. You can also see the visual hands via the pokerxfactor hand replayer from the above link, when you watch the hands play out... Well, it's telling.

Graph of database mining results (scroll down just a bit)for poker tracker compared to the superusers. The vertical is their winrate in BB per 100 hands. This chart represents the data for every player in that database who has played between 500-800 hands.

Absolute's Official Response
- Mark Seif tells us it's ok.

Anyway, that's not all the fun that's been going on in the crazy world of poker lately...

Bryan Micon was scammed for $12k by a guy he met in Vegas and has made it his mission to get his money back utilizing his poker forum, neverwinpoker.com (warning, this is a very NOT SAFE FOR WORK forum and is full of poker degenerates, it is common to see nudity and extremes on this forum, so don't say you were warned if you want to see the Micon Scammed for 12k Story - btw, the audio of phone conversations between Micon and the scammer are good.

I think this pretty much sums it up

This is from a friend of mine:
View this :

This is the famous tournament Potripper won at Absolute Poker and you get to see all the hole cards for everyone....even though AP says it's impossible.

For the non- believers of cover ups, super accounts that can see hole cards, etc etc this is especially for you.

*If you don't have a PokerXFactor account, it only takes a second to do it. Take a look at hand #15 and #31 specifically. It's BRUTAL!!!

Default Pretty obvious...

There are probably 5 to 6 hands that are REALLY obvious that the hole cards are being seen based on the calls and raises. Any average player, let alone someone who should be a really good player would not have made many of the shown moves based on if the hole cards weren't being seen. Probably will need some expert testimony on the interpretation of the play (maybe from some poker pros/authors)

Looks like there is overwhelming evidence that continues to mount. Once the trust factor (which was sketchy to begin with, but over time has strengthened some) is gone, all sites will suffer without doubt.

When this hits national airwaves (which it will!) Look out.

Guess I will have to add them to my "Stacked Deck" - maybe even replace Ken Lay as the Ace of Spades!

Now that is funny!!!

Irregardless of whether or not Absolute Poker and its players got scammed, I have not noticed any of their commercials on TV in the past few days. Is there a connection? Just when I was gonna win that Dream Package too?!

I still have some faith that online poker is not rigged and players are not cheated any more than in a live game - even our little bar league has some fishy things that go on.

I can see where an unscrupoulous insider with some online room would be tempted, but these sites are making so, so, so much money, why would they risk it? Party Poker stock took a huge nose dive after that idiotic online gaming ban was passed and that hurt the stockholders tremendously. I just cannot see the financial incentive for a site to do it - maybe an individual, but not the site itself.

I see unreal things happen in live games all the time so it is difficult for me to blame a bad play or a bad beat on cheating. Maybe I am naive, as I would have never imagined there would be a RAT in our club nor would I ever imagine an APCer cheating at our tourneys, but both have seemed to have become reality in the past and current season, so I guess anything is possible.

However, by and large, I still have to believe it safe to play online. Unfortunately, now that I finally got my cash out of Netteller, I have not had to worry about getting money out of a site as all I seem to do is make deposits - not really, but I have not had any big wins online lately but I don't blame that on cheating, I am not playing as much, not at high stakes and have stuck to very micro limits just to practice.

I got an email from this site that is free but supposedly pays out cash - I won a freeroll and got some points, but have not tried to win or cash anything out.

If this cheating is widespread, however, this will be the end of online poker and that sucks big time. But for any poker player, one has to know that be cheated is part of this game - it has always happened and will always be a factor. I recommend keeping your deposits small, immediately cashing out any big wins and hoping it doesn't happen to you.

IF one is serious about online play, then invest in the technology to increase your chances at winning and decrease your chances at losing - whether thru cheating or bad luck, and even bad decisions.
