I was about to say the same thing Silver...

Yep, you will get rivered alot in limit - limit is about making the best hand after all 5 are out there - might as well just play it with the hole cards turned up - j/k, I like limit and stick to it when it comes to cash for the most part -keep NL to tourney so as to not lose too much on abad beat - I worry about that for days. In limit, you pretty much have to check raise alot to get anyone to fold, until they catch on to what you are doing anyway.

it was only a 1 + .20 buy in and it only paid 4.50 if you won but one thing i did take from it was i wouldnt wanna play no limit all the time. when i first started I lost half my deposit in 2 days but im still playing on the one deposit so thats good i would like to think lol. I havnt got it all back yet but its getting there. This site and some book reading has helped me a lot i have tightened up a lot so i dont loose so much. When I get rivered its usually cause im either not paying attention or i think naw this guy has played to many hands to have it and then i loose a good chunk of what i sat down with. I think i have an advantage when it comes to the tilting thing though. I am a former mma/boxer so i learned a looong time ago not to let emotions make my decisions for me. Any pointers for a beginner are appreciated.

Seems like you are on your way to being a profitable player.

I too have been able to keep playing on my initial deposits at various sites, but I like NL SnGs - when playing for cash, I still stay away from NL unless I am juiced up and am willing to gamble alot!

SnGs offer a good way to build a bankroll or rebuild a bankroll. Just play ABC poker and you can make money at SnGs - play 4 at once and it increases your hourly rate such that it actually makes "cents" to do it.

One thing is for certain, emotions can ruin a bankroll. Poker is like life, the less emotional, the better the day. Thats why half of the country takes antidepressants daily - stay numb, I say!

Good luck!

No it doesn't take a bunch of money to get excited. One can get real excited for cheap and with this economy, we all will need to find such a way since no one will have any money.

I bet the deposits into online accounts really dries up in 2009 so you had better get it while you can.

As you become a more experienced player, you will find that you have to play multi-screens to keep the excitement factor up - even SnGs get boring after a while.

Anyone who knows me, knows I rarely kill buzzes, more like contribute to them.

Thanks for the name calling though. Must be an Obama supporter.

I am sure you will claim your winnings from your Stars tourney and certainly pay your fair share of the taxes on that $40,000+ win/windfall. Might as well, go ahead and send 75% of it to the Feds. Obama is gonna need it as are all the peeps his Hope and Change are going to help so much.

You most certainly don't "deserve" the money, so if you cast your vote for Obama, then pay up. Just think of all the poor people that could be helped with 28% - 75% of that win. Hell, you could feed and house a whole household of poor people for a year with over $40,000 in winnings from a poker game and you should do it. After all, its only "fair".

I suppose we need to let the IRS know about that win, huh?

No, its a lil messed up.

dunno what to say. 2 years of being full time poker, like I haven't payed my taxes. Audit me. do it. Who are you to question me? I have nothing to hide. I have always tried to help here....I am a honest person, I will never cheat anyone or dodge any taxes. I dunno what grudge you have or chip on your shoulder you cant let go, but thats your loss. Ive never done anything less than give the APC credit for being where I am. I try to give back to you from all the hours I put into this game every week. I spend 60+ hours a week on improving my game, this took a lot of hard work that finally payed off. why are you attacking me?
