No Limit Texas Holdem Cash Game 6 Max
One of my favorite ways to play poker is to play no limit holdem cash games, specifically the 6 max games. I like the six max games because it allows you to play in a more aggressive environment and really gives you a chance to work out profitable situations and match ups for you.
Playing 6 max gives your opponents more opportunity to make mistakes, and if you take your time in table selection you can find tables with players who are worse than you and take advantage of them. One of the sites with the loosest NL cash games is Bodog, although the traffic is not as much as Poker Stars.

Got something to say?

I just wanted to say thank you for your help with my game. I enjoy your vids and comments on your plays. I’m a uNL player and I constantly reach out for info on improvement. I’ve watched all your vids (a few times actually) and I also visit the links that you provide. So for (all) that, I say thank you.
As far as your QQ hand: I’m not so sure IIIIII could have made the call. Especially after he min raised me. I put him on bottom set, 2pr or perhaps, (depending upon how weak he playes), a set of 8’s or 9’s. Still, I didn’t think 1pr was good there. AA is also a possibility as some ‘donks’ think of it as a “Trapping” hand lol (The only thing AA (a Strong but still ONE PR hand) traps,….is yourself. lol) I discounted KK because SURELY villain would want to knock out weak aces, plus build the pot. Which is why raising AA is also a GREAT idea!
I would have called his min raise and reevaluated the turn. I would have been playing for set value from this point on and fold the turn w/a none Q. As played, nh sir. vnh.
And now,….if I may make a suggestion. Could u please make a vid that is along the lines of ‘What would you do?’. Perhaps let us watch villain play a few hands, give us a little info on his style, etc. and perhaps even do it street by street. PF and all. If he times outs, let us know. If he makes chat comments, let us know. You could (say) play the flop, and then it’s “what would you do?”, then stop the vid, move on to another hand and come back to ‘the hand in question’ later. Then play the turn and, “what would you do?”. Pause THAT play, play another hand, then back to ‘the hand in question’. Ya see what I mean? I hope I explained it ok.
Anyway, thanks for your time and effort to help newbie players as myself to become better players of the game that we all love. And sometimes, Love to Hate. lol
Thank you soooo much,
James
P.S. I first found u guys on youtube.
The first two times I tried to comment on the hand, after going back to the video a couple of times, I could no longer type in the comment box so I decided to answer Spry’s question in a reply to his email. Then I got an inspiration and it occurred to me that I might be able to cut and paste and get my whole comment here.
Eh, voila!!!
My firs thought was, ‘Sure wish the video was bigger. It’s impossible for me to read the numbers and letters and I can just barely tell what the cards are. I tried changing my screen settings but nothing changed in the browsers. Tried both Firefox and IE but they are both the same.’
My second thought was, ‘Sure wish I could play at Bodog. It’s the only site in the world that won’t allow Canadians to play there. What the hell’s wrong with Canadians? Oh, well…
Now, on to the hand.
If there’s lots of players like this guy it must be easy to make money there. What the hell’s he doing limping with one player to play in a six max game? What the hell’s he doing playing 93 anyway? Must be in love with suited. At least, I think they’re both Spades. Sure would like to take on some of these maniacs.
You said it at the time, “Think I’ll throw in another raise to see if he’s got two pair.” You got your answer and decided to play anyway. He told you you were beat with his all in re-raise and you still decided to go after your two-outer.
You’re a 2 1/2 to 7 1/2 dog. Even though he is a maniac, you still have to fold your hand.
At least, that’s the way I see it.

PS:
Turns out Bodog isn’t the only site in the world that won’t allow Canadians to join. Tried to join LuckyAces yesterday. No dice.
Sometimes it sucks to be Canadian.
But mostly not.
At least, that’s the way I see it.

I didn’t watch the whole video, so I don’t know what was his image on the table to establish his range there. Assuming he was a normal player (loose but normal for 6-max), there were just a few hands he would have, or should have called you with pre flop: maybe 77+, A9+, KJ+, maybe some suited connectors. And just a few of those were beating you post flop. KK and AA are not likely, since he didn’t raise or reraise pre flop. So you’re left with 99, 88 and 98s (not likely). On the other hand, there are some hands that you are beating post flop, like TT, JJ, A9, maybe 77, or even a straight draw semi-bluff, which sound much more likely.
But, then he raises you, telling you something different. He could still have some of the hands you were beating, but now it’s more likely he has something that has you beaten. I think a call to the first raise you have been better there, because you had position and could see what he would do at the turn. At the very worst, you could control the size of the pot and lose less just calling him on later streets.
After the re-raise all in I think it was pretty clear he had you there. It was now very unlikely that you were ahead and I think you should have thrown your hand away, unless the pot odds were just too great (I couldn’t see the exact amounts of the bets).
Of course, that all goes down when he shows you 93. He was simply a donkey and you played perfectly well considering that. Well, that’s my opinion anyway.
On the email you said something about being pot committed, but I think that’s just for tourneys. In cash game you can simply rebuy, so you’re not committed to a single pot. What you have to think in cash games is pot odds and EV.
See ya
Hey, just want to thank you for yr videos. Keep them coming…..Hope I dont meet you at the tables…at least not just yet!!!
