2 Poker Pros, 2 Online Poker Millions Wins
Two big poker stars won two big online poker tournaments over these past couple of weeks, one being James Akenhead and the other being Mark Newhouse.
Englishman James Akenhead, fresh off an initially exciting final table appearance at both the 2009 WSOP Europe Main Event and the 2009 WSOP Main Event that wound up with an ultimately disappointing 9th place finish at each, finally got some of his cred (and confidence) back, taking down the Full Tilt Poker Million VIII held Friday, November 27. In addition to all those less material gains, Akenhead also won $500,000 for his efforts. Runner-up at the live London event was former Premier Poker League champ, Juha Helppi, whose prize was $250,000.
Mark Newhouse, meanwhile, may be less of an immediately recognizable celebrity name, so we’ll help nudge your memory. He is a former World Poker Tour champ, having won the 2006 Borgata Poker Open (and over $1.5 million for it). This time, showing he’s got it going on just as good online as off, Newhouse (aka “newhizzle” online), beat out 8,358 other eager contenders using some great poker strategy to take down this past weekend’s PokerStars Sunday Million, for a $245,897 payday. Newhouse had to beat out Hevad Khan, a Team PokerStars Pro, as one of the other final table contenders for his crown. And it was almost two big online final tables this weekend for newhizzle, who came so close but not close enough to the PokerStars Sunday 500 final table too, busting out in 13th.
Play online at PokerStars just like these two guys, maybe you will be the next big winner.
